On July 11th, we joined the citywide movement called “Pitch in the Park Day“. Several neighbors and organizations from north, and west of Chicago joined us here in south Chicago  to clean up Lorraine Dixon Park.
We started at the park entrance where we met the Alderman Michelle Harris volunteer team.As we moved further we discovered lots of debris from the fireworks, where the volunteers from Women In Ministry, meticulously removed. Then the volunteers from the Loraine Dixon Park Advisory (Pres.Pam Murphy Hill), helped us clear the curbs and mainhole so the rain water won’t be trapped. Brother Ernest encouraged the children to help out in the cleaning and rewarded them with delicious cookies.Women In Ministry of ACLC, (Coordinator, Greta Myers) loved up the volunteers while picking up the trash.

Then, we moved onto the playground area where  88th Place Dauphin Ave Civic Org team (Pres. Kateria Doty) found many lost children shoes she could recycle. Then, The Family Church volunteers (Pastor Hiro) removed many broken glass in the area, and made it safe for children to play there.

Finally, further down, with Sarah Maeda ( Family Church) and her son, we visited The Joy Community Garden (Dir. Pearl H. Ramsey) to pick some fresh vegetables.

Mama Joy and Papa Peace produced this report and video. The words of the soundtrack song were inspired by a “spiritual” hymn. Mama Joy wrote and played the song, and Papa Peace arranged the music.

Also thanks to our neighbors, near and far,  Hitomi, Patricia, Thomas, Lue, Rickteria, Keith, Clifton.
